# AZC for SOLIDWORKS

Version **0.3.5** · Windows x64 · First public release

Connect SOLIDWORKS to your AZC workspace. Search STEP/STP assets and import them into new documents. Export the active part or assembly as STEP, upload its cover, and create assets or update versions. Version updates retain the selected asset name. English and Simplified Chinese are included; the interface follows SOLIDWORKS automatically.

## Requirements

Windows x64, .NET Framework 4.8, SOLIDWORKS and an AZC account. Tested with SOLIDWORKS 2026 SP04.1. Other SOLIDWORKS versions are not yet verified. Installation needs Windows administrator permission.

## Install or update

1. Save your work and close SOLIDWORKS.
2. Extract `azc-solidworks-plugin-0.3.5.zip` to a permanent folder. Keep all extracted files.
3. Double-click **Setup.exe**, allow the Windows permission prompt, and choose **Install or update**.
4. Open SOLIDWORKS → Tools → Add-Ins, enable **AZC for SOLIDWORKS**, and open the AZC cube tab in the task pane.

Keep the installed folder: SOLIDWORKS loads the add-in from it. To update, extract the new package and run its Setup.exe after closing SOLIDWORKS. Local settings and access data are retained for the same service and Windows user.

## Connect and exchange models

1. Open [AZC Connection settings](https://azc3d.com/account/connections), add a **SOLIDWORKS** connection, save and generate a code.
2. Enter the code in the AZC pane and choose **Connect**. Codes last 10 minutes and work once. Use a SOLIDWORKS code, not a Blender code.
3. Select a library asset and choose **Import selected model** to open it in a new document.
4. To upload the active part or assembly, choose **New STEP asset** and enter its name, or choose **Update selected STEP version**. In update mode the name follows the selected asset and is read-only. Rename assets in AZC; refresh the library to see changes.
5. Choose **Export and upload**. Check the uploaded model and conversion status in AZC.

The add-in is free to download and install. Cloud storage and connection allowances follow the workspace plan. Each authorized installation uses one connection slot. **Disconnect** releases the slot.

STEP transfers geometry rather than original sketches, feature history or texture maps. Native SLDPRT/SLDASM and GLB transfer are not supported in this release. Imported source files are retained to preserve SOLIDWORKS references. After an interrupted upload, refresh the library before retrying.

## Remove

Close SOLIDWORKS and run **Setup.exe → Uninstall**. Local settings and access data are retained. Disconnect in the add-in or remove the connection in AZC to release the slot.
